DLSU

I just got home from DLSU about two hours ago and I am so freaking relieved (ecstatic, too) that I am finally almost a Lasallian! :) I still have to enrol on the 7th of May and then there's orientation on the 14th and 15th where I guess I'll meet my future classmates and tour around De La Salle University. I'm so excited! Although, I am pretty intimidated too but I guess that's how all incoming freshmen feel.

Freshman. Freshman. :)

I'm still getting used to the word. It's...nice. It's a whole new world compared to high school. Will I be able to survive? Oh well, I've got approximately a month to thicken my skin and learn the ups and abouts of Manila. I'm a fast learner. I'll survive. XD

I'm dead tired right now but I wanted to blog about my day immediately not because it was eventful but because I've got a few rants and raves about what I went through today.

So, my day began by waking up and finding out I've got a horrible cold. We went over to UST around 9 and immediately pulled out my reservation at the Faculty of Arts and Letters building. There was a little glitch where they couldn't find the credentials I submitted to them until they remembered that my credentials were at the Registrar because apparently, I'm a foreign student so my credentials go over to them. So I went there and got my credentials back in a second.

Then, we headed to DLSU and I handed my credentials to the man at the counter and he scans through them and then tells me that because it's international, I have to head down to the Department of Education in Edsa which is like, an hour's trip away, for my credentials to be evaluated and certified. Well, I had no choice so my cousin and I had to rush over to DepEd but because it was nearing lunchbreak, we stopped by at Trinoma for lunch. LOL.

Well, let's skip to what happened at DepEd. So, I was there right and the woman at the counter referred me to the Secondary Education Division and I asked the lady there for an evaluation and then she refers me to this other lady but because she was talking to someone, I waited.

So then, I was sitting there right and I can't help but overhear them and guess what, I realize that they were actually talking casually! Like, catching-up-with-each-other-for-old-time's-sake kind of talking! So I was getting really annoyed because I needed the certification immediately because my deadline at DLSU is today so I began shooting them impatient looks. LOL. Thankfully, though, she finally noticed so she called me over while her 'friend' was still there. So I told her what I needed and her 'friend' begins chatting me up after she sees from my credentials that I'm from Brunei and according to her, she tutored in this tutor center in Brunei.

And so, while the lady was writing up a reference about my documents, she puts down her pen and starts talking to her friend for like about 3 minutes before she got back to what she was doing and her friend left. So I was all relieved when her friend left right and she was able to finish what she was doing until suddenly she tells me that the Director is out in a meeting and there's no one who can sign my certification! I got all frantic and my patience was waning and I explained to her that I needed it by that hour otherwise I have no college to attend!

In the end, they decided to give me a copy of my certification that the lady signed and told me to show it to the admissions office at DLSU and come back for the original one tomorrow instead. I was annoyed that they didn't have at least one authorized personnel to sign such important documents but I had no choice but to settle for what they can give me and pray to God that DLSU accepts it. Well, God answered my prayers and they did accept it! So now, I've got a confirmed enrolment date and I'm bloody relieved beyond words sitting here and blogging about how my uber long and stressful day!

If you've gotten this far, I'm surprised you haven't clicked that 'X' on the upper right hand corner. :)

Suicidal, Suicidal

No, I'm not turning emo and getting all suicidal. I'm singing Sean Kingston's Beautiful Girls! Why?

Because he's the artist Paul and I watched at Glorietta the other night!!

Two words: Freaking Amazing!

It was surprisingly really fun! His songs are catchy and groovy and Paul and I couldn't help but dance along. There were SO many people that it was so hot and really crowded! His mini concert was actually very enjoyable!

That's him! Encircled by the spotlight. :)

Paul & Kayz.

Even if I'm not a big fan of Sean Kingston, he was a real blast to watch! I had a good night! :D

So anyway, I went to DLSU last night to find out whether I got it or not and guess what, I GOT IN!!

I got accepted for American Studies but I plan to shift to European Studies after the first trimester if I can.

People are constantly asking me about my choice of course because it's not that known and common yet. Let me clear it up for you. European Studies is a course where you get to study Europe's history, politics and culture. You also have to study French and Spanish.

People also constantly ask me what kind of job will I be able to land after I graduate from this course? Job opportunities range from being a diplomat or worker in embassies or the Department of Foreign Affairs. You also engage in foreign service and you can also get involved in international business companies.

So that's as much as I know about my course. It's what I'm really set on taking up right now. :)

Mum goes back.

My mum left for Brunei today. =( My eyes stung and watered as I hugged her and gave her a kiss on the cheek. I'm going to miss my mummy! Love you, mum!

Well, I've got to learn to live independently now. So far, I'm doing alright. I haven't tried commuting by myself yet because it's bloody scary but I've gotten pretty good at remembering places so I guess that's a pretty good step.

I was in Santiago for about a week. It's fun there. Very home-y and nice. It's just really pretty hot and humid. Speaking about the weather, it's not that hot here in Manila anymore, surprisingly. It's been windy and sometimes the day's pretty dark. They say a storm's about to pass by but I don't know. Maybe.

So I've moved into my cousin's apartment. All my clothes and belongings are already in place and I'm quickly adjusting to this new 'home' of mine. Not bad, really. I just really miss my family back home in Brunei. See, I'm still not over referring to Brunei as my 'home'. I guess Brunei will always be home to me. :)

I'm still waiting for DLSU's call about whether I'm accepted or not so I've no clue yet as to where I'm really going to study. So you know that I applied in Singapore right and I didn't get accepted and then, all of a sudden, they call me up to tell me that I've got an opening slot for nursing and that I should be there by friday because classes start MONDAY which is YESTERDAY!

I was so excited and all that but sadly, I had to decline their offer. I can't process my student visa, fly over to singapore without even knowing a clue about the country in just four days!!! So I felt really bad! So sayang kali ah!!!

Well, that's all that's new about me here. XD Not much going on because I don't know how to go out and about here. So scary!!! Haha.

Manila, Manila

Three days ago I was blogging from Brunei. Now, sitting on my arse and irritated beyond belief of this polluted heat, I announce to you that I am now really in Philippines. XD

I went to UST and DLSU with Paul yesterday. He came with us because as you know, my mom and I are totally clueless when it comes to commuting but now, I'm proud to say that I now know my way around here! I'm going to live in my cousin's place with our other cousins and their place is like, walking distance to UST! How fab is that! XD

AND, DLSU is like, 5 stations away on LRT. Super easy to get there. So I don't have to go looking for a place to live anymore. :)

So, mom had to stay at the dentist to get her teeth checked so Paul and I hung out at SM in the meantime. It was good catching up with him again.

I had to go back to UST again today. I had a little snitch with the admin because of my grades. They didn't really understand the conversion of the grades from Brunei to Phils so I had to go back to the registrar. At the end of the day, thankfully, all fell into place and I was deemed ready for enrolment on the 24th of April! I'm super excited! I got to meet new people there too so I'm guessing my first day won't be so bad at all. :)

So tonight, my mom and I are travelling to Nabaccayan, my uncle's province for his birthday celebration tomorrow. I don't think we'll be there long because I have so many things to take care of here in Manila what with my enrollment stuff and all.

That concludes my first three days here in Philippines. I don't think I'll be able to update for a few days, though. Anyway, friends and family in Brunei, I MISS YOU GUYS!!!
